Drag Plates

Not long after we began making the original One-Pfoot, our attention was directed to the drag plate, or the “ratchet” as it was called in the older Pflueger parts lists. This part is offered in the following models. Both are reversible for left or right hand retrieve.

The "piece de resistance" for all you Pfluegerphiles. We are now manufacturing a limited quantity of drag plates made of A-2 tool steel that have been hardened to a rugged 62 Rc (Rockwell). They have also been industrial chrome-plated for maximum corrosion resistance. This beautiful piece has that "old time" look and feel that is very reminiscent of the older original Medalist ratchets. As with our other drag plate, 8 indents on both sides make the A-2 fully reversible for left and right hand retrieve.

One-Pfoot Hard Coat Drag Plate for Pflueger Medalist

Hard Coat Drag Plate

Our new One-Pfoot drag plate is made of T6061 aluminum with a sapphire hard coat applied to it. This hard coat not only builds up on all surfaces, but actually penetrates into the aluminum substrate to form a long lasting durable finish to this most vital part. With 8 indents on both sides, it is reversible for left and right hand retrieve. Our aluminum drag plate makes the perfect replacement part for that tired worn out nylon drag.

Because this is a moving part that is in contact with two spring loaded pins, a thin layer of light oil or silicon based lubricant may be applied to both sides of our drag plates before installation. Use sparingly and wipe off any excess on the brake shoe or the reel frame before using the reel.
